The CBI is now free to go ahead with the probe into the alleged iron ore mining irregularities in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, with the Supreme Court on Monday refusing to put a stay on the Andhra Pradesh High Court?s verdict in December last year that allowed the CBI probe.
A Bench headed by Chief Justice SH Kapdia dismissed as withdrawn the Obulapuram Mining Company?s (OMC) petition challenging the HC?s judgement. OMC belongs to Karnataka minister G Janardhana Reddy.
The CBI?s Delhi-based special task force can now inquire into the mining irregularities in the Anantapur district.
