“Haris Rauf, hailing from Pakistan, is gearing up for his inaugural play in the ODI World Cup. His journey in the 50-over format commenced in 2020, and since then, Rauf has evolved into one of Pakistan’s most clever pacers. Over the course of 24 ODIs, he has impressively claimed 44 wickets. His moment of glory came in a recent ODI series against Afghanistan when he achieved his first-ever 5-wicket haul in international cricket.
Notably, in the 2022 T20 World Cup, Rauf found himself on the wrong end of a remarkable straight six launched by Virat Kohli- a shot hailed as “”arguably the greatest single T20 shot of all time.”” As Rauf approaches the ODI World Cup, he is determined to make amends by targeting Kohli’s wicket, an accomplishment that has thus far eluded him. Rauf in his professional journey has represented quite a few T20 franchise teams like the Lahore Qalandars, Melbourne Stars, San Francisco Unicorns, and Welsh Fire, among others.
In a remarkable ODI performance against Afghanistan in Hambantota in 2023, Rauf left an indelible mark with figures of 5/18. His fiery spell significantly contributed to Pakistan’s commanding victory, as they trounced their opponents by a massive margin of 142 runs while defending a total of 201. Rauf’s scalps in that memorable match included Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ikram Alikhil, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
On a personal note, during his stint with the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League, Haris Rauf displayed his determination to consistently bowl over 150kmph by stitching ‘#H150’ on his shoe—a self-motivational gesture. While steering clear of junk food for the most part, his love for Nando’s grew during his time in Hobart, and he found himself craving for chicken on a daily basis. In 2019, Rauf was roommates with Mayank Gupta from Ambala while in Hobart, and their friendship blossomed over numerous cups of kadha chai.”
