Naseem Shah

Naseem Shah stands as a crucial component of the formidable Pakistani pace attack, partnering with Shaheen Shah Afridi. Shah marked his entry into the ODI arena in August 2022 against the Netherlands and has consistently impressed since then. Over the course of 10 matches, he has scalped 25 wickets, with his standout performance being a remarkable 5/33 against the Dutch in 2022.

His breakthrough moment arrived during the 2022 Asia Cup when he sent KL Rahul’s stumps flying with a lightning-fast delivery. Shah continued to ascend during the same tournament, sealing a close victory against Afghanistan by smashing two crucial sixes in the final over. Notably, he once again played the role of the hero in the 2nd ODI against Afghanistan on August 24, 2023, securing victory in a thrilling last-over contest.

In his debut series against the Netherlands, Shah left an indelible mark, with Pakistan triumphing by 9 runs and sweeping the series. During that game, Shah claimed the prized wickets of Max O’Dowd, Musa Ahmad, Scott Edwards, Teja Nidamanuru, and Logan van Beek while achieving a career-best 5/33.

On a more personal note, Shah has a younger brother, Hunain, aged 18, who represents Central Punjab in Pakistan’s domestic cricket. Hunain announced his presence by dismissing Balochistan’s Bilawal Iqbal to claim his maiden first-class wicket in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in 2022.
