City-based provider of BPO/call center services?Competent Synergies is planning to infuse nearly Rs 40 crore in setting up the infrastructure for new call centres in the suburbs of Chandigarh.

The company which has presence in Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh,

Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir, is coming up with a facility to manage 2,000 seat call centre in the upcoming IT Park in Mohali.

The call centre will generate employment for more than 3,000 people in the field of BPO, call centre (inbound, outbound and non-voice including backend operations). The project is expected to be completed by March 2009.

Sharing the company?s expansion plans with FE, Sanjay Tandon, chairman, Competent Group said, ?The new facility will be spread over one acre of land and will attract investment of about Rs 40 crore. The funds have been raised partially through the State Bank of Patiala and we are also looking forward to have private equity. About 40% equity will be diluted for funding our new projects. The first phase of the call center comprising 300 seats will start by March 2009 and the unit will be fully commissioned by the end of next year.?

Competent Synergies has also tied up with Reliance BPO to set up 500-seat call centre in its existing facility in Mohali. At present the company is serving clients like Bharti Airtel, HFCL Infotel, Tata Teleservices, Spice Communications, Reliance Infocomm, Reliance BPO, Vodafone Essar Mobile Services, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, ABN Amro Bank, Indusind Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC Ltd, Corporation Bank amongst others from its two locations at Chandigarh and Mohali.

?We have about 25 branches in five states and are expanding our base. With recent expansion, we have set up a call centre at Mohali with 1,400 seats operational generating employment for about 2,500 young aspirants in this region. Our group achieved a turnover of Rs 47 crore last year and the projected annual growth is 40% for the fiscal year 2008-2009. Starting the business from an area spread of 100 sq ft, we have now reached an area spread of more than 1 lac sq ft,? added Tandon.
