Local train services on the Central Railway route in Thane, Maharashtra, were disrupted on Monday (August 5) afternoon due to a technical issue, according to officials. The disruption led to significant crowding at Thakurli railway station, police reported.

The Central Railway posted on X (formerly Twitter) that due to a technical issue between Thakurli and Kalyan, the down line has been affected since 14:28 PM.

“Due to a technical issue between Thakurli and Kalyan down through line is affected from 14.28 pm. Our technical team is working on it to resume service. The inconvenience caused is regretted,” Central Railway said in a tweet.

OHE wire between Thakurli and Kalyan faulty

Kiran Undre, Senior Police Inspector with the Government Railway Police in Dombivli, explained that an overhead equipment (OHE) wire between Thakurli and Kalyan had developed a fault, leading to the service disruption.

The GRP is managing the large crowds at Thakurli railway station. Some commuters reported hearing loud, blast-like noises from the OHE equipment.
