GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL) has withdrawn its cheque-bounce case against Kingfisher Airlines, with the carrier making a payment of R10.5 crore towards outstanding dues.

The development comes five days after a Hyderabad court ordered non-bailable warrants against Vijay Mallya and four Kingfisher executives for not appearing in court for the hearing last Friday.

?We have arrived at an agreement. Kingfisher has already made the payment to GHIAL,? confirmed Arun Bhagat, spokesman for GMR Infrastructure, which runs the Hyderabad and Delhi airports. The airport had taken the carrier to court when four cheques for the amount had been dishonoured. ?The complaint has been withdrawn,? said Chenna Keshava Rao, the company’s lawyer.

Kingfisher’s total dues to the airport were R16.5 crore, and after the latest payout an amount of R6 crore is currently outstanding. The airline had stopped flying to Hyderabad in March when it cut back its operations across several cities.
